Kindergarten Teachers

 
 

Kindergarten Teachers at HBCPK must meet requirements set by the Division of Licensing, Va as well as the requirements set by our accrediting body, Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). K Teachers must be CPR/First Aid trained, have been background and fingerprint checked, comply with I-9 requirements and complete the following courses: Child Abuse and Neglect, Daily Health Observations, and Blood borne pathogens, plus attain 16 hours of professional development in Education or like course work, workshops or conferences annually. For our accreditation status, K teachers must obtain an ACSI Educator's Credential by submitting their college transcripts/degree, completing Principles and Practices or Early Childhood Education or Philosophy of Christian Education, attend Bible study, be a professing growing Christian attending their place of worship on a regular basis. Our Kindergarten teachers are generally have a Master's degree, or maintain a current teaching license with the state.

Kim Stevens

Mrs. Kim Stevens begins her 8th year at our school. She has been the 4's music teacher, K music teacher, and this will be her 6th year in the Kindergarten classroom.  Kim has her Bachelor's Degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Elementary Education and her Master's Degree in Literacy Education from Washington State University. Mrs. Stevens attends Living Hope Church with her family and teaches Sunday School. The Stevens have two grown children and one son-in-law. She loves gardening, photography, and the Florida Gators! Her favorite subjects to teach are Bible and writing...and anything you can teach through song! Her class is the Parrot Pals!

Jamie Bellis

Mrs. Jamie Bellis begins her first year teaching kindergarten for us, after lots of subbing…and being fully qualified as well! Jamie has her Bachelor’s Degree from James Madison University, and her Master’s Degree from George Mason in Elementary Education. She taught for ten years in Fairfax County Public Schools- 7 in Kindergarten and 3 in 1st grade. The Bellis family worships at Park Valley Church, where Jamie is involved with the children’s ministry. She is married and has two children- one an HBCPK graduate, and one here in Kindergarten. Mrs. Bellis loves tennis, running, organizing, and getting together with family and friends. She loves teaching because she gets to be a part of a child’s growth, discovery, and joy in learning! Her favorite verse is Joshua 1:9- knowing that the Lord is with her wherever she goes. She is excited to join Team K this year!

Ashley Parker

Mrs. Ashley Parker begins her first year at HBCPK as a Kindergarten teacher, after a year of subbing and testing for our 4’s students. Ashley graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelors in Child Development, and got her Masters from George Mason in Early Childhood Education and a teaching license for PreK- 6th grade (previously taught 1st grade)….definitely well-qualified to be on the HBCPK team! Her children have attended our school, and her youngest will be in the K program this year. Ashley is married and has 4 children. The Parker family attends Park Valley Church. Mrs. Parker enjoys reading, crafts, decorating and most importantly spending time with her family. She is looking forward to loving your children as part of Team K this year!
