Preschool Teachers at HBCPK must meet requirements set by the Department of Social Services, VA and by our accrediting body- Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Teachers must be CPR/First Aid trained, have a physical, pass background checks, submit to fingerprinting, comply with I-9 requirements, complete several courses: Daily Health Observations, Blood borne Pathogens, and Child/Abuse and Neglect class and attain 16 hours of professional development/continuing education in the field of Early Childhood annually. For our accreditation, lead teachers must have either a degree in the field of Education or Early Childhood, or possess a degree out of field, but have completed a minimum of 2 college level classes in Early Ed, or a Child Development Credential. Teachers must complete Principles and Practices of Early Childhood Education course, be a professing, church going Christian, and attend Bible study. Every teacher at HBCPK has met or exceed the requirements set by state and ACSI standards.
Mrs. Loretta Abbott begins her 7th year at HBCPK. This will be her 6th year with our littlest students, in the 2 1/2s class. Mrs. Abbott also teaches Music Class to our 4 yr old students on Mondays. Loretta attended Northland Bible College and Bob Jones University. She has completed her Child Development Credential and is pursuing her Educator's Credential with ACSI. She has 5 previous years of teaching experience with 3 yr olds, using Abeka curriculum. Mrs. Abbott is married, has 2 children and a dog named Mila! She attends National Community Church where she helps lead worship with her beautiful voice! She absolutely loves 2's and 3's and is looking forward to welcoming your little ones into her classroom along with her assistants Mrs. Snyder and Mrs. Gaioni. Loretta enjoys music, reading and baking!
Mrs. Kristine Adams teaches four classes for us: Mon/Wed/Fri morning and afternoon 3's plus Tuesday/Thursday morning and afternoon 3 year olds. Previously Kristine assisted in the afternoon pre k program for for 2 years and this is her 6th year with the 3 year-olds. She is married with 3 children (youngest two are HBCPK alumni) and stays busy with a variety of sports and school activities with her children and loves to read. Mrs. Adams has a BS in Management from Lock Haven University and received her Preschool Early Education Endorsement Credential from the state of Virginia and her Educator's Credential from Association of Christian Schools International. She attends All Saints Church where she has taught CCD classes for many years. It will be 'oceans of fun' in Mrs. Adams sea-themed classroom, with she and her assistants- MWF am, Mrs. Exner, T/Th am Mrs. Evans, and MWF and T/Th afternoon with Mrs. Hwang!
Mrs. Kerri Gibbs begins her 5th year at HBCPK. Previously Mrs. Gibbs assist in Pre K with Mrs. Goff and Mrs. Waskow, and now begins her 3rd year with Morning Pre K. Mrs. Gibbs attends Park Valley Church where she is active in women's Bible study and Sunday school. She is married with three children, all of whom are graduates of HBCPK. Kerri loves photography and has her own business; she is also an avid runner with lots of marathons under her belt! She is a graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Journalism and has completed the Preschool Endorsement Credential with the state of Virginia and received her Educator's Credential from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Mrs. Gibbs also leads our Kindergarten Running Club and Lego Clubs on Fridays. Mrs. Gibbs loves the innocence of children, their eagerness to learn and their unconditional love! Betty Jo Goff
Mrs. Betty Jo Goff begins her 16th year at our school and has over 25 years of experience with preschool and kindergarten-age children. She teaches full time in morning and afternoon Pre-K with our oldest preschoolers (most are 5 by Sept). She has a Liberal Arts degree from NOVA, and has completed her teaching credential through Association of Christian Schools International. She attends Park Valley Church, active in the nursery, attends Bible studies, signs for church services and leads a small group Bible study. She adds her gift of American Sign Language to the classroom, as the children learn colors, songs, and prayers, both in sign and Spanish. Mrs. Goff is married, and has one married daughter and loves traveling with her hubby! She is an energetic teacher who never hesitates to don a costume, a wig, or make the weekly themes full of play experiences! You are in for a treat if your child is in the Monkey class with Mrs. Goff and her am assistant, Mrs. Stone and pm assistant Mrs. Mandeville!
Mrs. Vicky Hackler begins her 10th year at HBCPK. She has been a music assistant, then five years as a preschool assistant, and is currently in her 5th year as a lead teacher in the 3's classes. Mrs. Hackler teaches the MWF morning 3's, the T/Th morning 3's and the MWF afternoon young 4's. Vicky has a degree in Psychology from Randolph-Macon. She has completed her Early Education Credential with honors, and received her Educator's Credential from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Mrs. Hackler is married and has 3 children, all alumni of HBCPK and now two of them are in college and one is in high school. She is a dog-lover and shares her home with Sophie, the labradoodle and Charlie, a cavalier/papillion mix. Vicky attends Park Valley Church and enjoys time at the beach with family and friends. As a dog lover- how appropriate that her class is the Puppy Class! It will be a 'tail-waggin' year with Mrs. Hackler and her MWF assistant, Mrs. Brandt, her T/Th assistant, Mrs. Christopher and her afternoon 4’s assistant, Melissa Peverill.
Mrs. Betty McNeil has been a teacher here at our school for over 25 years. She teaches morning and afternoon Pre-K classes. She has four children who attended our school many years ago, and now are college graduates! She is the proud grandma to two sweet little boys. Mrs. McNeil is an avid Jazzerciser and enjoys travel and going to the beach and cheering for the Nats and Caps!! She graduated from Radford University with a degree in Business and has completed her teaching credential through Association of Christian Schools International. The McNeil's attend church at Haymarket Baptist. Mrs. McNeil is known for her fun themes, like outer space, dinosaurs and tracing everyone's shape while we learn about the parts of the body! She has a very calm and positive atmosphere in her classroom which makes for a great day for all! Good things are always 'popping up' in the Popcorn class with Mrs. McNeil and her am assistant, Mrs. Knutson and her pm assistant, Mrs. Evans.
Mrs. Monfort is teaching the MWF morning and afternoon 4's classes. She has many years of experience at HBCPK. She has worked as a Preschool assistant in Pre K with two different teachers--learned from our best and in now leading for her 2nd year! Mrs. Monfort is married and two of her four children are HBCPK alumni. In her off time, she enjoys teaching fitness classes and has spent many years teaching ballet, too. Mrs. Monfort has a liberal arts degree from NOVA and has also earned her Educator Credential from Association of Christian Schools International. She has also returned to Liberty University, online to pursue her Elementary Ed degree. The Monforts attend church at Park Valley. She is a calm, gentle teacher who loves to support children's learning by genuinely loving them as they learn! Hoot, Hoot for the the Owl class with Mrs. Monfort and Mrs. Mateer, her assistant!
Mrs. Kelly Stone begins her 9th year at HBCPK and is teaching Pre K in the afternoons, and assisting Mrs. Goff in the mornings. Mrs. Stone has been teaching Kindergarten P.E, assisting in the 3's and leading the MWF 4's and Pre K since 2011. Mrs Stone maintains an Early Childhood Education degree from Vanguard University in California, and her teaching credential from Association of Christian Schools Internationals (ACSI). She is currently pursuing her Elementary Education degree at Liberty University. Kelly enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, camping, hiking, walking her dog, Lucy and distance racing. She’ll be doing a half ironman this fall with Mrs. Monfort! Two of her daughters are graduate alumni of HBCPK. Mrs. Stone attends The Way Church in Warrenton. Your children are in for a 'bear-y' good year with the Bears class teacher Mrs. Stone and her assistant Mrs. Kerry Good.
